On August 22, 2025 – Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry – HCMC Branch (VCCI-HCM), in collaboration with the Australian Embassy via the Aus4Skills Program, has recently launched the research report titled “Increasing Regional Logistics Linkages to Promote Socio-Economic Development in the Southeast”. The Workshop welcomed over 130 delegates, including leaders and representatives of the following entities: Mr. Vo Tan Thanh – Vice President of VCCI, Ms. Sarah Hooper – Australian Consul-General in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Brent Stewart, Deputy Consul-General of Australia in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Huynh Van Son – Vice Chairman of Tay Ninh Provincial People’s Committee, Mr. Truong Anh Dung, Director General of the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training, Ministry of Education and Training, Mr. Tran Ngoc Liem – Director of VCCI-HCM, Ms. Bui Thi Ninh – Deputy Director of VCCI-HCM; representatives of the Departments of Industry and Trade, Departments of Construction, Departments of Finance of Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai Province, Tay Ninh Province; Regional Customs Sub-departments; Business Associations, and many businesses in the logistics and manufacturing sectors.

Speaking at the Workshop, Mr. Vo Tan Thanh – Vice President of VCCI affirmed: Launched today, the Report on “Increasing Regional Logistics Linkages to Promote Socio-Economic Development in the Southeast” holds a special practical relevance. The report provides a comprehensive overview, identifying key bottlenecks in infrastructure, institutions, processes, and human resources, and proposes specific recommendations such as optimizing regional infrastructure investment, establishing a unified logistics coordination mechanism, and standardizing human resource training. The report is of greater valuable in the context of Vietnam’s administrative merger with a view to improving management efficiency. The analysis and recommendations in the report are therefore not only relevant to the Southeast, but also serve as an important reference for other localities across the country in implementing administrative mergers, restructuring, and regional linkages in a coherent and effective manner.”

Regarding the launch of the report, Ms. Sarah Hooper, Australian Consul-General in Ho Chi Minh City, shared: “Australia takes pride in its partnership with Vietnam, with human resource development being a key focus for more than 50 years. With Australia’s support, ministries together with port and logistics businesses in Vietnam have been cooperating and sharing information as well as policy proposals for the development of the region. Our commitment under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Vietnam reflects the two countries’ shared vision for sustainable economic growth based on a skilled and competitive workforce.”

Increasing logistics linkages will help enhance intra-regional capacity and open up connections with neighboring areas. Effective linkages will help optimize supply chains, reduce logistics costs and transit times, boost business competitiveness, and drive broader economic spillover effects.

This report not only serves as a tool for strategic planning for regulatory agencies, but also a testament to the extensive Vietnam-Australia cooperation in infrastructure development, trade, and human resources.
